March Favorites

It's time for my March Favorites! These are items I couldn't get enough of in the month of March. Apparently, I was really into corals, go me! As always, click on the picture to make it larger.

Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush in Coral Riviera 002- it's described as "tawny corals" on Sephora's site. This is a HG blush for me. It gives a glow to my cheeks when I use the colors together, and in a pinch I can use the middle bronze color to contour and add warmth to my face. Love this mofo.

MAC's Shell Pearl Beauty Powder- I put down my MAC MSF Candlelight in March in favor of Liberty of London's Shell Pearl. I love the soft pearly cheek highlight it gave me, especially since it had staying power. Since it's a beauty powder, you can also wear it as a blush, but I have yet to do that.

MAC's Birds & Berries Eyeshadow- I'm a sucker for teal eyeshadow. This one came out as a limited edition with the Liberty of London collection for MAC. This color is so versatile. I used it all over my lid, in the crease, with purples, greys, taupes, browns, pinks, etc.

MAC's Cha Cha Lipglass- Hello pretty lippie. Cha Cha is a medium pink with gold pearl from the Spring Color Forecast collection (looks coralish).

Milani Liquif’Eye Eye Liner Pencil in brown- I reviewed this liner and am still in love with it. I've ventured back to Target a few times looking for black but was always sold out.

What products did you love in March? Let me know in the comments!

Fendi makes me want to craft up this joint.

Feeling crafty? Boy does Fendi have the purse for you... I'd better sharpen up on my needlepoint skillz ASAP.

Craft couture—this innovative kit has everything you need to make your mark on the signature Fendi baguette. Get silly, get serious, get crafting. The entire bag is your blank canvas.

Available at a Michael's errr I mean Neiman Marcus near you ;-)

Review: Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara (Update)

Since I'm such a mascara junkie I picked up Maybelline's Full N Soft mascara after reading glowing reviews on MakeupAlley. Everyone seemed to like this mascara but since MUA has disappointed me before, I decided to test it out myself.

Quick take: Does as promised on the packaging and cheap. Wish it lengthened better and was slightly darker since it's called 'very black'. B+

Maybelline promises on their packaging:

This mascara builds full, soft thick lashes without the brittle feel.

  • Prevents loss of lashes with patented Quick Dissolve System that allows easy mascara removal

  • No clumps, no globs

  • Contact lens safe and hypoallergenic

  • Washable; also available in waterproof formula

What I liked: It performed like the package said it would. It gave me tons of volume (it grabbed every lash!), applied cleanly and defined my lashes. This mascara was very layerable without looking spidery, and I experienced no flakes. My lashes stayed soft and curled all day. Taking it off was cake since it dissolved easily with eye makeup remover.

No likey: The package said it was 'very black' but it wasn't all that dark on my lashes. It gave me tons of volume but that took several coats to achieve. It did nothing to lengthen my lashes.

No mascara

3 coats of Full 'N Soft

The brush was pretty big but not gigantic.

I probably wouldn't buy this mascara again since I'm more into dramatic mascaras. I'd recommend this to someone who wants natural and full looking lashes. The price easy to swallow at $6.49 (I think I got it for $5.49 at Target).

Product available at Drugstore.com

Friday Favorites

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a great week and will have an even better weekend! I suffered from some bout of food poisoning but am feeling way better. Funny enough, I tried to do a FOTD on my brother's birthday (like one of my worst feeling days) but I just look pissed off and sickly in the pictures. I might post it anyway for giggles. This weekend seems like it's going to be pretty low-key, just hanging with the family, no big plans.
Please show me some love and subscribe to my blog via the RSS feed or through email! Both ways to subscribe are on the right hand of the screen. Hope you have a great weekend! xoxo

Now on to my favorites :)

One of my favorite You Tubers Makeup Fun With Jessie created a gorgeous purple eye tutorial. She has such amazing skin too.

NYX Cosmetics is a super affordable quality makeup line. Thanks to Khris, she points out some great MAC/NYX dupes this week.

Here's my favorite picture of cake this week courtesy of Bakerella. Red velvet cake makes me want to screw dieting ;-)

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Review: Dr Brandt pores no more vacuum cleaner

Like anyone, I get a croppage of blackheads across my nose. Even with a Clarisonic, they're not as prominent but they're there still. After receiving a sample of Dr. Brandt's pores no more vacuum cleaner, I immediately bought the full size bottle when they were having the friend's and family deal at Sephora.

Quick take- slightly pricey but works, receives an A.

According to Sephora, Dr. Brandt pores no more® vacuum cleaner™ helps loosen blackheads by absorbing dirt and excess oil. The complexion is left smooth, clear, and refined.
Directions on the box/bottle:
-Apply a thin layer to areas of concern.
-Avoid contact with eyes.
-Leave on 5 to 10 minutes until product is dry and turns light blue (a cooling sensation will occur).
-Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
-Use 2-3 times weekly or as needed.
-Follow with pores no more® refiner for maximum effectiveness.

With your first use, you wont notice a huge difference, but I noticed that the product had greatly loosened my blackheads. Not to be gross, but they all extracted like buttah. With a couple months of use, I can tell that my crops have mostly died off. I use the product once a week (without extracting), and I've noticed that what blackheads I still have are definitely smaller (they're not all gone).
The product itself applies like a clear gel and dries an iridescent white-blue. What I love is that it does not stain my bath towels unlike other masks. What I don't love is the price of $45 but they give you a full 1 oz.

Dr. Brandt pores no more® vacuum cleaner™ is available at Sephora and at Dr. Brandt Skincare online.

Get your shop on

Here's some stuffie stuff I bought this past week.

You can't tell but it has a cute ruffle at the top. It's not on the site yet but it's by h.i.p.

Couldn't pass up Betsey for $25.

Made a quick stop at Sephora to pick up some face cleanser by First Aid Beauty $18. I'd tried a sample of it and loved it. Expect a full review soon!

I also bought some nude shoes, yay! These are Seychelles "Kick up your heels" So far they're pretty comfy!

Friday Favorites

It seems like this week just flew by! I'm celebrating a friend's 30th birthday party downtown this weekend. The birthday boy is going skydiving before dinner...crazies. I'd probably crap myself silly if I ever did that. What are you up to this weekend?
BTW, don’t forget to subscribe to my blog via the RSS feed or through email! Both ways to subscribe are on the right hand of the screen. Hope you have a great weekend! xoxo

I love this.

It doesn't have enough room for all my makeup, but I think this would work just fine.

I love Clara's tutorials she features on her blog. This purple look is one of my favorites that she's done.

You've probably seen this video, but it makes me smile every time.

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Thursday Tricky Tricks

It's been like 80 degrees here everyday this week. That means the toes come out from hibernation. To celebrate the heat wave I bought new sandals for worky work.

They're Cole Haan's with Nike technology, which I highly recommend if you do a lot of walking or standing at your job.

Breaking in shoes: To break in new or tight-fitting leather shoes easily, soak a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol. Swab the inside of the shoe where it needs stretching. While the shoe is wet, knead the shoe insides with your fingers and gently stretch the shoe from the outside wherever it is tight. Walk around in the shoe while it dries to further loosen it up. The rubbing alcohol will not damage the leather, but it will break the leather in. This trick doesn't always work, but it's worth a shot if you have evil shoes.

Review: Milani Liquif'Eye Eye Liner Pencil

I got the opportunity to try out Milani's Liquif'Eye eyeliner for the past couple of days. You know you must like something when you drive back to Target the next day to pick it up in every dang color they make.  Apparently, it was a hot item since the only color available the next day was gold.

Quick take- cheap and wonderful, A+ product!

Milani promises: Extremely smooth eye pencil with the application and feel of a liquid liner that delivers true color payoff, in a metallic finish with a long-lasting wear.

Directions on the package indicate that the liner sets in 15 seconds. I applied two lines on my hand, one I smudged, and after 15 seconds I tried to smudge both lines but neither were having any of that.

The liner went on extremely creamy, allowing me to smudge it as I liked. After 15 seconds, that stuff was unbudgeable. I wore it all day long and by nighttime it still looked as if I'd just applied it, except for in the inner part of the eyelid where I'd been rubbing my eyes (allergies). I would as far to say it outperforms Urban Decays 24/7 liners (my favorite). It also performed extremely well in the waterline but I don't have a picture of that.

Here's what my liner looked like 8 hours after applying it in the morning. (Blah neutral eye day, I only lined the  under eye halfway.)

Milani Liquif'Eye Eye Liner Pencil comes in black, brown, gold, aqua, and silver. The package says these liners are metallic but  just found the brown pencil to have a slight sheen to it, nothing metallic. I found this item at Target for $4.99 but they sell it at CVS as well.
