Box of Organizational Fun

For a while now I've been quite envious of other bloggers and their organizational skills. Organization is a foreign word to me. I keep all my makeup in a drawer and under my bathroom sink. It spills out and has also found it's way on top of my dressers. It's a big ol' mess. I'm really not an organized type of person. Usually things end up in piles but I know exactly where everything is in those piles. I decided I really need to clean up my makeup so I can find things a little more easily.

If I had an extra $300 I'd buy the clear cube. to house all of my makeup goodies. Everything would have a home and it would make me oh so happy. It would also make a great birthday gift .



First up on the list to organize: lipstick. I found this gem of a box when searching out organizational tools online. It holds 50 lipsticks, and is like a tackle box for lippies! Now all my lipsticks can have a home. The box features plastic cut outs that fit even my big YSL lipsticks. This fits all of my MAC bullets wonderfully but it will not close if I put a MAC Lipglass into it.

Next up on the list to organize: makeup brushes. They're just sitting in an plastic box, buried underneath each other...

Hourglass Cosmetics Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick - Mini Review

I was recently sent a tube of Hourglass Cosmetic's new Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick to try out in the color Ballet. I'd describe Ballet as a medium blue pink with a soft shine. It reminds me a lot of MAC's Lovelorn but a bit deeper and brighter. Ballet is definitely a change from the soft nudes that I'm used to (throw a gloss over this and I be clubbin!) I bet Ballet would look amazing as an everyday lipstick on medium/darker skin chicas.

I love the Hourglass emblem carved into the lippie.

As a lipstick, Femme Rouge Velvet Creme is very buttery, moisturizing, and light on the lips. Long after it wore off, my lips felt soft and conditioned. It withstood 3 hours of wear before I felt a need to reapply. Also, the lippie smells very nice, kind of a faint vanilla smell but nothing overwhelming. The packaging is pretty cool, sturdy with the brand engraved onto the side. The description says that tube is refillable but I don't see anywhere on the website where they sell the refills yet.

I'm happy to report these new lippies definitely have a quality of luxury brand lipstick. If you're looking for a new line of lipsticks to try this Fall, I'd definitely recommend Hourglass's new Femme Rouge line.

Love and Pixie Dust- MAC Digi-Pop: Glaringly Hip Lip Swatches

MAC's Digi-Pop collection launched today exclusively for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I only picked up Glaringly Hip dazzle lipstick during the presale in June. I wasn't too keen on these little glitter bombs, but I thought this one would look good over other lipsticks. The Dazzle Lipsticks from this collection reminds me of the lipgelee's from the MAC in Lillyland collection in lipstick form.

You can see swatches from this collection here. Although they look glossy in the swatches, they feel a little dry on the lips. They look like you'd be able to feel the glitter on your lips but I couldn't.

The Tale of Two MAC Lippies

I depotted a bunch of eyeshadows about a weekend or two ago. At least I had Twilight on in the background to keep me company while I feverishly worked away with a straight iron and a paring knife. It's actually a really easy process, but I needed Edward for some company. Sorry Jacob.

I depotted enough to pick up two lipsticks using MAC's B2M program.

Lovelorn is a glossy blue pink with plenty of pink pigment. It's perfect for cool colored ladies (or gents) like myself.

Swatch of Sandy B (Frost)

Sandy B is an uberfrosty light shell pink. I find it to be a little brownish on me but in a wearable way. This lippie is a bit too frosty but looks great under glosses such as Flurry of Fun or Smile.

MAC To the Beach Haul

I hauled a few things from MAC's To the Beach collection.  Had I known everything was going to sell out the first day I would have bought Sweet & Punchy while I was at it but oh wells. I can't wait to try everything out! Let me know what you hauled from this collection in the comments!

My precious... Marine Life High-light Powder- definitely more of a shimmery coral blush. For some reason it makes me sing "my little pony."


Hipness blush: a bit pinker and brighter than Instant Chic


Left to right: Beach Bound and Lazy Day. Beach Bound is a pretty peach color that doesn't turn a horrible orange color on my lips. It's a very pretty nude type of lip. Lazy Day is almost a glossier more pigmented version of Angel lipstick.


Flurry of Fun lipglass contains teal reflects. Super pretty over lippies!

Benefit Jing A Ling LOTD

Gimme a ring a ling, when you want some JING A LING!

Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Jing A Ling is a my lips but better kind of shade. It wears very light yellow-pink with a slight gold sheen. Given that it's a silky finish, the lippie itself is very slippery and moisturizing on the lips. It wears about a few hours before I feel I need to reapply it. I love how it looks like a lipstick-gloss hybrid without the sticky feeling of a gloss.

My Very Small MAC Lippie Collection

For shits and giggles I thought I'd show off my small MAC lipstick collection. I always enjoy seeing other's collections, so I figured why not take pics of my used lippies and post them for yall to see ;-) As always, click on the pics to make them larger.



I couldn't find a couple lippies, but here's what I've got. I'm actually not the biggest fan of MAC lippies. I find Dior, Lancome, Chanel, and YSL to have better formulas. Stay tuned for my much larger eyeshadow collection.
