Yet another MAC In the Groove FOTD, #3

Happy Monday everyone! Sorry, this is yet another MAC In the Groove FOTD, but those MES trios make it really easy to throw a look together! This is what I wore for my hubby's dirty thirty. Lucky guy got a whole weekend of birthdayness celebration with friends and family. I'm seriously so tired of eating. We're actually going out yet again to his favorite restaurant tonight since today is the day of his actual birthday. Ugh no more eating!!!

Anyway, hope you enjoy this FOTD. It was nice to have a reason to do evening makeup. I'm sure you're tired of my everyday "subtle" looks. Nah, you'd never get sick of me ;-)

MAC In the Groove Swatches & Quick Review

I recently picked up some items from the In the Groove collection the other day. You're probably sick of seeing everyone's swatches, but I still want to share :)

I picked up Petticoat and Stereo Rose mineralize skinfinishes (MSF). I had By Candlelight from a previous collection.
MSF's are good all over highlighters, blushes, eye shadows, or whatever you want to make them. Petticoat is a beautiful raspberry with gold/amber veining, Stereo Rose is a coral with bronze sheen, and By Candlelight is a light golden pink. My favorite is Petticoat, I just love the pinky sheen it leaves on my cheeks. Stereo Rose is gorgeous too but not quite worth the hype behind it.

I also bought Happy Together mineralize blush duo. I love the tawny warm pinky brown look it gives to my cheeks. It's very neutral but the pearl from the light color side of the duo really gives it some oomph.

When swatching Happy Together with my MSF's, I noticed how it looked very familiar to By Candlelight MSF. It's slightly darker than the light side of HT blush.

So far, I've been loving the new mineralize eye shadow trios that came out with this collection. They're very fine, with lots of pigmentation and little fallout. The staying power on these guys is awesome. With UDPP, my eyeshadow looked the same at night as it did when I first applied it.

Togetherness features lavender, blue purple, and a silver grey. At first I thought the grey looked like Knight Divine but it swatched nearly identical to Silver Ring. I'm wearing this trio here.

Soften the Mood features a satin light blue, light rose, and a light brown. I bought this trio mostly for the middle color. I love the pearly rose color but it has a bit of fallout. It's gorgeous by itself all over the lid.

When I got it home, I thought I'd made a mistake because it looked so much like Naked Lunch and Cork. Swatched, this trio looks like nothing like them. Cork is darker than the light brown in the trio but definitely in the same brown family. Naked Lunch looks nothing like the light rose color.

I swatched the pearly rose color with other possible dupes. It's definitely got a cool streak in it.

I really want to buy more eye shadows from this collection, but I'm trying to be good since Dare to Wear is coming up and I have way to many eye shadows anyway.

MAC In the Groove Jazzed and Fashion Whim Swatches

Exciting title huh? I just wanted to swatch my recent lippie purchases from the MAC In the Groove collection.

I'm surprisingly very happy with Jazzed lipstick. Usually bright orangey looking lipsticks look like orange poo on my lips, but this turned into a gorgeous bright coral pink on me. Many bloggers think Ever Hip looks like a more pink version of Jazzed but I can't wear Ever Hip, looks like orange poo on me. I'll post a FOTD wearing Jazzed pretty soon so you can see better pictures of it.

Unfortunately, I can't express the same love for Fashion Whim cremesheen glass. I got a few requests to swatch Fashion Whim by itself. As always I'm happy to oblige.
Fashion Whim looks like a pinker version of C-Thru lipglass. The disappointment lies in the fact that it settles into lip lines, even over lipstick. By itself it's a little milky looking (I'd never wear it by itself, too corpse looking). BTW cremesheen glasses are very slippery and much less sticky than MAC's lipglasses.

The reason I bought Fashion Whim is that I love it over Jazzed. However, I hate how it settles into my lip lines even over lipstick. Lame. I'm thinking of going back and swapping this for C-Thru instead. It would give the same effect. Fashion Whim mutes bright colors just like C-Thru.

If you can get your hands on Jazzed, I definitely recommend getting it. Unfortunately, it sold out online pretty quick. I never would have even tried it had there not been buzz behind it. See, hype can be good for something!

MAC In the Groove and Alice & Olivia Haul

I feel like I kind of slacked getting my haul up MAC's In the Groove and Alice & Olivia Collections but I've had baby showers and pink on my mind. I'll spare you the long drawn out story on how lame it was to get Stereo Rose but the short version goes like this: a few days before the launch I thought I wanted Stereo Rose so I presaled it at Nordstrom. The night before the launch, they canceled my presale. I called 3 other Nordstrom's and they were all presaled out too. Lo and behold I found a Macy's counter that had one left so I they held it for me and I picked it up the day the In the Groove collection launched. I should have known better, I had to do the same thing to get the elusive Marine Life from the To the Beach collection.

I wasn't able to get swatches for the entire collections but if you'd like to see those I recommend hitting up Karla's website for swatches. She is the shiznit when it comes to swatching. Click here for In the Groove swatches and here for Alice & Olivia swatches.

I'll post soon with my own swatches and comparisons for my haul.

MAC In the Groove Summer 2010

I'm kind of behind on the upcoming MAC Collections. I've known about most of them coming up for quite some time just because I'm a MAC-aholic but I've been waiting for pictures to come out first. I'm pretty excited about this collection simply because of the MSF's in this collection. I've always wanted Petticoat and Stereo Rose!
