FOTD: Holiday Party Time!

Hi everyone! It's been a long time coming but here's a new FOTD. I hope you enjoy my chunky monkey preggo face. I'm 20 weeks preggo, halfway there! If you hadn't heard, we're having a boy! I've been feeling good but the back pain is starting to rear it's ugly head. It's just mostly aches and pains here or there. I sound like an old lady now...

This is a look I did for my holiday company party a weekend or so ago. Looking at these pictures and past pictures, I notice that I really need to toss my MUFE #117. It's just a bit too yellow and light for me (it's like an NC15-20 equivalent).

I really wanted to use my Family Crest pigment from the MAC A Tartan Tale collection since it was just collecting dust under my sink. Speaking of collecting dust, I really need to have a blog sale to unload some things before the new collections come out.

Be on the lookout for a giveaway in the new year!

MAC A Tartan Tale- Pigment Swatches and Comparisons

Surprise surprise, MAC's A Tartan Tale launched today and of course I had to hit up MAC to get some pigments. Lucky for you, I have pigment swatches and comparisons for you today and not like 2 weeks from now. I'm such a slacker... with good reason, I promise!

Left to right: Moonlight Night, The Family Crest

Left to right: The Family Crest, Gilt By Association MES

With flash- Top row swatched dry, bottom wet, left to right: Moonlight Night, The Family Crest, Gilt by Association

I really thought that The Family Crest would be similar or in the same color family as MAC's Style Black Gilt by Association MES. Not at all. FC is a plummy brown with bronze and violet pearl while GBA is a glittering antique gold with a warm bronze undertone.

What did you end up hauling from this collection?

Disclosure: I bought everything featured.

Update: Here's swatches in natural light.

MAC A Tartan Tale Haul and Swatches

I got a little sneaky peaky at the Tartan Tale collection at my local MAC's event. Unfortunately, I showed up a little too late and they'd sold out of the pigments! Ludicrous. So FYI, apparently the pigments will be the first to sell out... I didn't end up getting any holiday sets at the event since I'd presaled at Nordstrom. I'll post pics of my sets and whatnot when I get it (or them... I only bought one so far). MAC's a Tartan Tale launches this Thursday, October 28th.

Left to right: Black Swan Pearlglide eyeliner, Style Clan nail polish, Glamora eyeshadow, Well Dressed Blush (not from the collection).

Glamora eyeshadow is described as a dark grey with teal tartan striping. I find it a little more medium grey with a definite cool streak. The eyeshadow itself is quite large.

Style Clan nail polish is described as a dark taupe with red pearl. The taupe makes the little red flecks more bronze colored.

Black Swan Pearlglide eyeliner is a black with pearl. The pearl gives the black an almost midnight blue tint.

Swatched left to right: Black Swan, Glamora, Well Dressed

As a bonus, here's a lip swatch of Cut a Caper lipstick. It's a midtone peachy pink. This will definitely look good on all skin types. It's a bit sheer so it's a pretty good everyday lipstick.

Disclosure: I bought everything featured here.
