L'Oreal Studio Secrets Eye Shadow Quad in Lavendar Smokes, Review and Swatches

You may remember me lemming the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Color Smokes Quad Eye Shadow in Lavender Smokes in my post last week. I fell in love this quad when I saw that It was purpley colors coordinated for brown eyes. I'm happy to report that it was easy to find at Target, yay for no searching.

The colors are beautiful to look at but a pain in the butt to swatch. I had to dig to get the colors you see in these swatches. They were very easily blendable though. These were swatched without a base. I'll be posting a FOTD featuring this quad shortly but you'll see that with a NYX jumbo pencil as a base, the color from this quad pops.

I noticed immediately that there are two MAC dupes in this quad. Color number 4 is a dupe for All that Glitters and color 3 is a dupe for Retrospeck. For the $5 I paid for this quad in store, I'd say it's worth it to get the dupes especially since you can use color 4 for so many other looks.

Swatched in natural light. So much for pigmentation...

What do you think of these new quads by L'Oreal? I enjoy having premade quads so looks are easy to throw together. Speaking of drugstore makeup, has anyone bought the new ELF Beauty Book Palettes? They're only $5 and feature a slew of yummy colors that are surprisingly pigmented. Beverly from AFullBeat had me searching all over Target only to find them out of stock :( They will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine.

MAC Dare to Wear Haul and Swatches

MAC's Dare to Wear collection launched today in stores so I got my butt over to MAC to check out them in person. I thought it was pretty cool that this collection was inspired by Lady Gaga. I was really feeling the rainbow aspect of these eyeshadows, but I'm really trying to hold off buying stuffie stuff until Fabulous Felines launches. I only bought Going Bananas and Sassy Grass (lol I love saying sassy!). The other three shadows are for my very preggo friend who kindly allowed me to swatch these for you guys.

Top: Aqua, Sky Blue, Crazy Cool. Bottom: Going Bananas, Sassy Grass

Natural light, Top row: Aqua, Sky Blue, Crazy Cool. Bottom: Going Bananas, Sassy Grass

Swatches with flash

Many of the shades in this collection were repromotes from the permanent or PRO collection. Aqua swatched well but was kind of chalky. Sky Blue took a little work to swatch but I liked the silver sparkle to it. Crazy Cool was very smooth in texture. Going Bananas took a little work but the payoff seems worth it and it also gleams. Sassy Grass is a matte and has great color payoff. I've never seen a green like it from MAC.

I decided against the lipglosses in this collection since I have my fair share of glittery glosses.

What are you lemming from this collection? Let me know in the comments!

Urban Decay Naked Palette: Good thing it sold out already..

Otherwise, I'd be flinging my money at it. It just launched today and I'm not surprised it sold out so fast. Not to fear, it will be back in stock soon.

Just look at the prettiness...

Source

THIS is how Urban Decay does neutral! Far from a group of boring beige shadows, this long, lean, seductive case is packed with TWELVE gorgeous neutrals. Shades range from delicate champagnes to dark, gritty gunmetal, and feature FIVE NEW shades with names like Darkhorse, Virgin and Buck. We’ve also included a range of textures: everything from glitter to shimmer to matte.

The chocolaty velvet case is emblazoned with the word “NAKED” in gold foil lettering. (Just wait ‘til your friends see you pull this sexy thing out of your bag. Jealous!) The mirrored case also includes our first double-ended 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, featuring Zero (our award-winning black) and Whiskey, a NEW deep brown shade. We’ve also included a travel size Eyeshadow Primer Potion in our original formula.

You can buy the Naked Palette from Urban Decay here when it's back in stock. Otherwise, UD just launched new eyelashes, 11 new vegan brushes, and a vegan eyeshadow palette that are still available. The new lipglosses haven't made it up to their site yet but check back with Urban Decay soon! UD's fall line also launches in Macy's, Ulta, and Sephora nationwide August 1st.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palettes, my new love

I gave into the hype and bought a couple Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow palettes the other day from Rite Aid. Yes, the same brand that makes 99 cent nail polish that you loved in your teens. The first words out of my mouth when I swatched my WnW Lust palette were "Holy S*&$!" I didn't expect them to be so smooth and buttery with a high color payoff! These definitely remind me of the same quality as Dior but with cheap packaging. The colors in the WnW Lust palette are also dupes of MAC Eyeshadows such as Shadowy Lady, Yogurt, Beauty Marked, Fig 1, and Knight Divine.

Colors in the left column are matte, and the right column is shimmer. I found it to be a light shimmer, not too chunky.

Flash, swatched with no base, matte colors on top, shimmer on the bottom

Natural light, swatched with no base, matte colors on top, shimmer on the bottom

These shadows blended out very well on the eye, as well. I'll post a FOTD using these colors this week.

If you're looking for budget eyeshadows, look no further, give these a try!

MAC Pret-a-Papier Haul

I hauled a few things from the MAC Pret-a-Papier collection and to tell you the truth, I was really surprised I liked this collection as much as I did. I was boo hooing the promos for this, but in person this collection is gorgeous! There's just so much more value in a collection of wearable colors. I posted swatches here of this collection.

Here’s what I got from this collection plus a couple other things. As always, click on the photos for full size.
